À la suite d'un précédent projet sur la supraconductivité, des physiciens chercheurs dans le domaine de la quantique ont proposé à une école de design, l'ENSCI-Les Ateliers, de collaborer à nouveau, cette fois autour de la quantique.
Il s'est agit pour les étudiants en design de l'atelier Formes & Matières d'essayer de montrer un autre visage de la quantique, de ses lois et comportements, pour les rendre plus accessibles au grand public.
La quantique a aussi été une source d'inspiration pour imaginer de nouveaux objets et usages, et même d'autres façons de travailler. Les créations de ce « Design Quantique » sont hybrides, quelque part entre vulgarisation, art et design.
After a previous project about superconductivity, physicists specialists of quantum physics have once again worked with a design school, the ENSCI-Les Ateliers, this time about quantum physics. Students were asked to imagine a new way of showing quantum physics and describing its laws and strange behaviors to make them more accessible to large public. Quantum physics was also a source of inspiration in order to reimagine new tools, new objects and new uses, even new methods. Millimetre worked together with the students and the whole team to help projects arise. Eventually, we designed the exhibition to be extremely affordable, thus allowing it to take place in schools, firms, and places usually ill-adapted to scenographies.
